Movie News
I spoke with Scleich at the 2007 NYC Toy Fair last month and I have some bad news :(
Although the did say they believe the US Smurfs DVD will be out later this year, the script for the movie was only recently approved by IMPS, and the exspectation is that there is not enough time now to complete the movie in time for a 2008 release - we are now looking at 2009!! BTW, we recently purchased most of Timeless Trinkets Smurf stock and so. We also recently purchased Astro's Treasure Chest's Smurf stock. Both of these sites are pulling out of the Smurf business. We are hanging in there!! Don't worry!! |
Wow... you purchased Timeless Trinkets stock! Good luck with that. I was a frequent purchaser. Hope everyone is happy in their new home. :)

Astro's stock, Timeless Trinkets' stock, and my stock are all getting along swimmingly, most of them have not seen one another since the old days back at the Schleich factories, lol. Thanks for the concern!!

Well, so much for seeing our little blue friends again in the theaters next year. Hopefully it will come to fruition and we will get to see the finished product.

Oy! :( Now why did I know THIS was going to happen? |
I just realised Pete that if they do release the movie in 2009 then it will be released when Mushroom Village will be celebrating 10 Years!! How cool!! :peace:

For the first time in four years, Paramount will have its own licensing booth while Universal Studios handed responsibility for licensing its films to the Beanstalk Group licensing agency in a rare move for a major studio. On Monday, Paramount announced it will be the North American licensing representative for the Smurfs brand. "To have the Paramount name front and center in the licensing world again is very exciting for us," said Mike Bartok, executive vp of licensing for Paramount Pictures. Previously Paramount films were represented by Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products.

Movie news
Some additional bad news. While at the licensing show, I spoke with some people at the Paramount booth. While they had said the DVDs will be released, they added that there is no movie scheduled to be done. IMPS had told me it all lies in the hands of Paramount. Sad news.

Grrrr... OK, I don't care anymore if there is a movie! I'm not bitter! Just seems to me someone dropped the ball...
|
Nooooo.... Let's just hope it's all under wraps still, fingers, toes and everything crossed, but no it doesn't look good at the moment does it?
