Gary - pvcblue (aka gmendias or smurfboy)

Hi all - well tearing a page from Rachel's book here, I thought I would give you a little insight to "me".

I was born in another time another world, oh wait that is the Doctor's grandaughter, messy brain! LOL!! Really I am originally from Jamestown NY the home of Lucille Ball, I have lived for the past 20+ years in Dallas Texas. I and my spouse Jacob (we have been together 9 yrs now) with our 2 little Poms (Osito and Tortuga) live in a suburb called Plano. I collected smurfs as a young person and used to avidly play with them with all the little neighbor kids as well. Later when I moved off on my own for the first time, I had packed them away in the attic, later to return to Dallas and find my little sister had "stole" my smurfs to be Barbie's mini-servants!!! She had nail polished a bunch of them, chewed a few, and just totally destroyed most!! Later (about 3 years ago) I was on the net and feeling wistful for my youth I did a google for Smurfs. I found of course they had them on eBay, bought some there, good and bad stories from those experiences, and was soon introduced to MushroomVillage.com!! This was the best find on the net! I have met many many many nice people here, I haven't always been the nicest, and unfortunately I let one lead me by the nose and fill my head with crud - but I think I have been able to get past that brainwashing and the madness of my past! This place and the people who come here are really great and have taught me alot about these little bits of "blue pvc".
Gary

Hi Gary- I liked your life story. I just have one question- what is MV.com? Sorry if that is a dumb question! Back to your story though- I think there are 2 kinds of kids- ones who cut barbie dolls hair, paint smurfs with nail polish (like your sister!) and general destroy their toys- and then there are the kids who are so careful and loving to their toys. Do you find that to be true? I was so gentle with all of my toys, and now I am a big pack rat of 70's and 80's toys that I still own. It's nice to read other people's childhood experiences with their smurfs. I loved them bunches! Smurf on!

Re: Gary - pvcblue (aka gmendias or smurfboy)

Hey Gary

Its good to get to know u better.... but tell me what is it with sisters stealing smurfs.. my sister sold mine as well so I wasn't lucky enough to get them back...

So guess I best tell everyone a little about myself..I was born and bred in a small (pop 5,000) country town in western NSW called Cobar, god forbid we had no McDonalds, BP Service Station or any other really cool places..mind u they still don't...

So I used to get my smurfs whenever we went away...I think I knew were every BP servo was in NSW much to my dads dismay... I have lived in Dubbo also in Western NSW famous for the Western Plains Zoo and Perth WA before finally landing in Newcastle and meeting my man Jim...we got engaged on New Years Day this year and the wedding is now set for 11 June 2006...

Oh I know bloody quick...but he is Macedonian and his family are planning the wedding it should be interesting to say the least...

So whose up next....come on tell everyone alittle about urself so we can get to know u....

Thanks Lazy smaurf19, I feel so dumb asking about MV.com! If I had only thought about it for a moment or two, maybe I would have figured out that MV stood for "M"ushroom "V"illage. I feel a little mental now. Thanks, though!

Re: Gary - pvcblue (aka gmendias or smurfboy)

Hey schleich and thanks for the congrates

Well not sure if anyone else here is familiar with Macdonian traditions but there wedding traditions r quite different to the english culture...For starts the grooms family pay for the entire wedding because the bride is taking there name..so basically they r paying u to take there name..so as they pay they get to plan and have things that they like, I will get to pick my dress, bridesmaids and dresses for them and colour scheme and few other details...

They also get married on a Sunday, most people over here in Australia get married on a Saturday, and there tradition is to give money instead of gifts....so I'm just going with the flow and not causing and disharmony...

So I have the Mother in Law planning everything, i'm sure we will go head to head on a couple of things but when there paying i think u can't really argue..
