Here is my smurf biography.

Having first starting collecting smurfs in the late 70's and early 80's during the National Garage promotions in the UK, I had always had a passion for the little blue and white guys and kept my small collection with me even when I went off to college. Again, when I got married my smurfs accompanied me to our new house guarding the top draw in the bedroom as they had done for so long.

We got our first internet connection in 1995 and I do remember doing a search for smurfs back then. There really wasn't very much on the web at that time and to be honest I don't think I could have come across anything of real interest because once again the smurfs faded away as a distant memory. In 2000 a friend of ours mentioned Ebay (it's okay, he is still a friend!) and after having a frenzy trying to buy a Playstation 2 which were just coming out then, sure enough I typed in smurfs.

There was 1 page of smurfs, most of which were McDonalds but I did manage to win a small group of smurfs which included a Nanny and a prisoner. They arrived and by this time I had rescued my original smurfs from the draw, soon enough there were smurfs all around the computer.

Within a few weeks, having discovered that smurfs were still being newly produced and that the rest of the world still loved them, our dining room soon started to fill up. I had also found several smurf websites, including Mushroomvillage.com (esmurfs.com as it was then) and had invested in a price guide. As our collection grew I decided it would be cool to have a go at a website. I discovered a nice free online builder and smurfvalley.com was born. It is now of course known as Blue Imps and has grown quite a bit since it's start, along with the collection which unfortunately got so large that it is currently in storage. We are shortly moving to a much bigger house which means a smurf room so hopefully it won't be long before I get to play with my smurfs again.

I think we are up to approx. 1500 smurfs but to be honest until they are all unpacked again I have no real idea. I love variations and promos but have recently starting collecting more raw smurfs and fakes and have discovered the joys of customizing all of which I look forward to getting more into after the house move when time is more available.
